Although it is a short read, it took a while for me to read because I ended up using this as a study. I like that there were so many scripture references, this made my study more effective. A must read for any woman in leadHERship!

This is one of the most profound books I have read. It both encourages and educates you. It makes you take a hard look at your life to see if you were called to leadership and helps you understand and gain the confidence to walk in your God given authority.

This small 135 page book is a priceless tool overflowing with a wealth of truths, revelations,divine discernment,empowerment,prophetic instructions, exhortations, and wisdom. I can feel the strength of the Deborah Anointing in the written words as I read them. The prayers and declarations are awesome! This is not the kind of book to be read one time and placed on the self. This is a powerful tool and one that I personally will use as a reference book; as a learning/teaching tool. She expands "women's place" and challenges longstanding preferences of the "church" for how women should participate in church, in government and in the larger society. The author provides a balanced, Biblical representation of how women were viewed and engaged in the work of God in the Old Testament and in contemporary times. She reframes the role of women in the larger society without undermining the authority of men in selected settings. She celebrates "femininity" without stereotyping or limiting women's expressions of their feminine self. About the Author

Elias Khoury, born in Beirut, is the author of thirteen novels, four volumes of literary criticism, and three plays. He was awarded the Palestine Prize for Gate of the Sun, which was named Best Book of the Year by Le Monde Diplomatique, The Christian Science Monitor, and The San Francisco Chronicle, and a Notable Book by The New York Times. Khoury’s Yalo, White Masks, Little Mountain, The Journey of Little Gandhi, and City Gates are also available in English. Khoury is a Global Distinguished Professor of Middle Eastern and Arabic Studies at New York University. As Though She Were Sleeping received France’s inaugural Arabic Novel Prize. Humphrey Davies’ translations include Naguib Mahfouz’s Thebes at War (American University in Cairo Press, Anchor Books) and Alaa al-Aswany’s The Yacoubian Building (AUC Press). He has lived throughout the Middle East and is currently based in Cairo.
